When I first started, I had no idea this could be my job. Videos were new to weddings, and I had no idea how to go about it or where to learn.. so I got to make it what I wanted! I spent my first year trading a couples videos for gift cards to antique stores or forever 21. I wasn't interested in the money, I was interested in the art. My style clashed hard with the slow, flowy videos out there. I was told often I would never get hired, but I didn't care. If I couldn't make art, I didn't want it. And that's true today.. I want to keep it that way. I've spent recent years feeling like a machine instead of an artist. I have updated my prices to give myself time and energy to keep it what I love, instead of rushing to meet deadlines, at the risk of not getting hired by as many lovely clients. But I hope in doing that I can create more heartful films for the clients I come to love.
